Marcus approaches his bodywork philosophy holistically. Our bodies present a snapshot of our biopsychosocial experiences. As a body-oriented therapist, he sees tension patterns as more than tight muscles, they indicate something more dynamic evolving in the body. The body is a roadmap into understanding a deeper expression of who we are. He approaches his client as a whole person and with a clinical mindset to the work. Our life experiences, our social and family patterns, work dynamics, food choices, exercise protocols, all contribute to our musculoskeletal tension. Marcus applies this approach to all the modalities of therapy employed in this style of bodywork. Just as the body is a whole system, so to are the techniques utilized in therapy. Marcus trained at Body Wisdom School of Massage and Bodywork from 2004-2006 with a balance of clinical and energy system traditions including Reflexology and Pulsing/Rebalancing. In 2022 he completed the Mayo Clinic’s Hospital Based Massage Therapy training for working with Integrative Medical teams in in-patient and out-patient hospital settings. In 2022 he also completed Massage for People Living with Cancer through OMEA. He is a graduate student in Counseling Education at Drake University with a focus on Body-Oriented Psychotherapy. His approach embraces an Interpersonal Neurobiological framework. His actively building research in interoception and touch therapy and focuses on trauma informed care through the biopsychosocial model of psycho-oncology. His goal is to develop clinical tools to aid patients and clients in widening their resilience, deepening their self awareness, and broadening their freedom to live a more embodied and integrated life for themselves.
